Neither of these things are true. Yi Long is a rare kind of fighter who is also a savvy fight promoter and an expert at turning a simple fight into compelling narrative - he’s monk in the same way as the Iron Sheik from the WWF pro wrestling days was Persian royalty. In short, it’s a gimmick. Why do gimmicks like this work to attract fans to combat sports?
