On April 14, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council hosted an open lecture “Humans and Nature in the Arctic: Case Studies for International Cooperation,” delivered by experts from the US and Canada. The event was organized in collaboration with the Pew Charitable Trusts. Director of the International Arctic Program of the Pew Charitable Trusts (USA) Scott Highleyman, Senior Officer at the International Arctic Program of the Pew Charitable Trusts (USA) Dr. Henry Huntington, Director of the Ocean Conservancy Arctic Program (USA) Andrew Hartsig and Policy Director for Oceans North Canada Louie Porta addressed the meeting, attended by Russian experts and students. The participants discussed the prospects for international cooperation in the Arctic on navigation, deep-sea fishing and environmental protection, as well as promotion of interaction within the Arctic Council.
