Mono’s debut single from 1996, ‘Life In Mono’ is a sumptuous slice of chilled out electronica featuring a sample of John Barry’s sublime Ipcress File theme and was the lead off track from their ’97 LP Formica Blues. The track was later covered by Spice Girl Emma Bunton and would appear on the soundtrack of the 1998 Hollywood movie version of Great Expectation. It and has been featured in commercials, TV shows and films including MTV’s 90’s animated classic Daria. Formica Blues’ 25th anniversary this August is celebrated with a deluxe edition of the album featuring rare remixes from Matthew Herbert, Mr Scruff, Les Rhythmes Digitales (AKA Stuart Price) and the Aloof.
