I made this film because some of the teenagers whose parents I knew were being bullied in school. The gentleman speaking is an expert in how to deal with bullying without violence although I realize sometimes that is necessary. I felt that I had to do something to help. A school bully is an individual who uses power and dominance to harm or intimidate others repeatedly. Most of you reading this probably have either experienced bullying or have watched bullying or were your self a bully. The behavior is often habitual and can take various forms, including: Physical Bullying: This involves harmful actions against a person's body or property. It can include hitting, punching, kicking, spitting, stealing, or destruction of property. Verbal Bullying: This involves using words to degrade or demean someone. It can include taunting, name-calling, teasing, or threats. Relational Bullying: This involves efforts to harm someone's relationships or social standing. It can include spreading rumors, intentional exclusion, or embarrassing someone in public. Cyberbullying: This involves the use of digital communication tools like social media, messaging apps, and email to harass or demean someone. It can include sending threatening messages, spreading harmful rumors, or public shaming. Schools have taken a number of measures to address bullying: Policy Making: Many schools have established comprehensive anti-bullying policies that clearly define what constitutes bullying and the consequences for such behaviors. Education and Awareness: Schools often conduct seminars and workshops aimed at increasing awareness about the impacts of bullying. These programs aim to teach students about empathy, respect, and the importance of standing up against bullying behavior. Reporting Mechanisms: Schools usually have a system in place for students to report bullying incidents confidentially. This may include hotlines, suggestion boxes, or designated reporting persons. Counseling and Support: Schools often provide counseling services for victims of bullying. They also work with parents and caregivers to ensure a supportive environment for the affected students. Peer Support Programs: Some schools have peer support or buddy systems where older students help to support younger ones, creating a culture of care and respect, and deterring bullying behavior. Restorative Practices: In some cases, schools may use restorative justice practices. This involves guided communication between the victim and the bully (often with others present) to help the bully understand the harm they've caused and to agree on ways to repair the harm. Teaching Digital Citizenship: As cyberbullying becomes more prevalent, schools are teaching students how to be good digital citizens. This includes learning about online privacy, respectful communication online, and understanding the consequences of online actions. I hope that this video helps some students understand how they can deal with bullies to stop them one way or another. Basically, I don't say this very often, I hate bullies even though I believe that they were probably bullied at home. I have seen it damage to many young people and stop there forward progress learning to cope with the world they are experiencing and thrive.
