Dozens of people were killed, and hundreds injured as a wave of protests swept across Colombia from April 28 in the wake of a proposed, but now-withdrawn, tax reform. Similar demonstrations against President Ivan Duque’s administration have been taking place since the end of 2019 over a variety of grievances, including corruption and unemployment, as well as indigenous rights and inequality.
