Full title reads: “Suffolk. A Hero's Homecoming. Sqd. Ldr. Gayford has simple - but nonetheless sincere welcome from his fellow townsmen of Hadleigh.“ Hadleigh, Suffolk. CU sign painted on road 'Welcome Home'. Large crowd gathered outside house. A banner hangs from the house saying 'Welcome Home' and little model aeroplanes hang from it. Record breaking aviator Squadron Leader G R Gayford (wearing civvies) walks through crowd (with his mother). People raise their hats and cheer. Gayford stands in front of group of Scout Cubs and other local people. He is presented with a plaque by the local British Legion.
