The Kazakh man we’ve seen here and here addressed his fellow Kazakhs sharing some thoughts on why the Russian language is so important to Kazakhstan and why the Ukrainian mistake of pushing it out should not be repeated there. As a warning, he speaks quite fast, and the subtitles are fast, too, although, within comfortable reading speed. Keeping in line with the latest trend set by President Putin, here’s a short historical note from the lovely Siberian Matrёshka on how Kazakhs ended up speaking Russian. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Having started in 1731, the voluntary process of the accession of Kazakhstan to the Russian Empire involved several stages and was completed by the mid-nineteenth century. This mutually beneficial union provided the Kazakh people with the much-needed protection under the vast wing of the Russian Empire, while Russia strengthened her position in the region, ensured the security of her borders, and gained lands rich in oil, gas, coal, ores, and other minerals. The accession of Kazakhstan to the Russian Empire had a profound and multifaceted impact on the development of the region. It formed the political, economic, sociocultural and demographic foundations of modern Kazakhstan. Источник: Putinger’s Cat / Кот Путингера
