What is the nature of this fight between our true selves and our mind? Why doesn’t our mind do what our higher wisdom and intentions wish for our mind to behave? Why does our mind think negative thoughts that cause suffering? To understand the answers to these questions, we have to look closely at the root cause of this fight, and that is the understanding that we are not our thoughts. When we realize that there is this mind and then there is who you really are, we stop fighting our mind. We allow it to be but we see it for what it really is. When we see it without identification, the thoughts become meaningless background noise, like overhearing a conversation on the street. This video explores how to disidentify with the mind, how to bring conscious awareness to our thoughts, and how to use powers of concentration to focus on the things that bring us peace and joy.
