As a new cultural, tourism and retail destination that will spearhead the future lifestyle of the city, OCT OH BAY combines diversified programs such as open public plazas, an ecological park, exhibition, office, business, commerce, tourism and shopping. The project seamlessly blends art facilities, elaborate landscapes, and commercial facilities along the waterfront park and bay. OH BAY promotes the spirit of innovation, dynamism and diversity of Shenzhen. The master plan and architectural design engage the natural setting and create diverse urban spaces with unique experiences, while interweaving culture, leisure, business, commerce and dwelling within one cohesive whole. Based on the project's positioning and geographic location, the design attempts to expand the conventional role of park as a static public leisure venue, and to turn it into a sustainable medium for integrating nature and city, business and leisure, culture and commerce. OCT OH BAY is composed of several sections, including retail villages on east and west banks, the waterfront park, the urban business center, the arts center & central plaza, and the Ferris wheel. Sightseeing routes, landscaped paths, public nodes and commercial circulation are skillfully fused with the various programs of the complex. With graceful, fluid building forms, varying spatial sequences, three-dimensional circulation, as well as broad views to the landscape all around, the commercial blocks on either side of the arts center become a featured highlight of the project. OCT OH BAY shows an imaginative combination of natural setting and urban life and provides brand new intriguing experiences to both local citizens and visitors.
