Just a few short weeks after playing at their debut album launch party in Boston, The Cars pulled into Cleveland, Ohio, to play at the legendary Agora Ballroom. It was on a bit of short notice, as the Cleveland Scene reported that The Cars replaced the act that was advertised just the week before. That Tuesday was called WMMS 101 Nite, which meant that show tickets only cost $. Can you imagine? It also meant that the show was broadcast live on WMMS, and, as Rhino Records executive John Hughes said, “...it's kind of a fierce live set.“ Yes, indeed! According to the notes I received with this file, this audio recording is NOT from the remastered vinyl pressing. It is an original transfer from analog master reel to CDR and then converted to FLAC. No equalization or sound manipulation has been done to this recording. I received this recording in trade and it is not to be bought or sold. Cleveland journalist Matt Wardlaw wrote a terrific article weaving together the history of the Agora, this show, and the official vinyl release. You can read it here: SET LIST: 00:00 intro and “Good Times Roll“ 04:49 “Bye Bye Love' 09:08 “Night Spots“ 13:35 “I'm In Touch With Your World“ 17:10 “My Best Friend's Girl“ 21:15 “Moving In Stereo“ 26:10 “All Mixed Up“ 30:23 “Take What You Want“ 36:05 “Don't Cha Stop“ 39:49 “You're All I've Got Tonight“ 44:10 “Just What I Needed“ 47:40 banter and encore #1 “Hotel Queenie“ 51:25 encore #2 “Something Else“ This video is likely being uploaded as a supplement for an article I wrote about The Cars.
