The original version of Star Eyes (maybe the best song version), on the 1943 movie “I dood it“. It became a jazz standard, made famous by Charlie Parker in 1951, and played by people like (in my order of preference for what I heard) Cannonball Adderley, Tommy Flanagan, Ahmad Jamal, Teo Macero, McCoy Tyner, Bill Evans, Bobby Hutcherson etc... and sung by Carmen McRae, Mel Tormé, Sarah Vaughan etc... But this movie version is the one I like the most I think, with its cheesy love lyrics, thence voices and the acting. Not watching movies from the 40s very often, especially American, there is a scene (of another play acted within the movie) that makes the black people happy the Confederate Southern army liberates the city from the North. Quite surprising when also in the same movie, there is Hazel Scott playing a nice song on piano as a trio.
