US Army paratroopers train in airborne operations with German and Italian armed forces. US paratroopers deployed in Italy recently conducted training jumps with their German and Italian counterparts. About 800 paratroopers from the US Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade, the Italian Army’s 4th Alpini Paratroopers Regiment and the German Army’s 26th Airborne Regiment performed several jumps over a drop zone in northern Italy. These airborne operations saw paratroopers exiting the US Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft. Following jump operations, Allied soldiers exchanged jump wings and airborne badges belonging to their country, a cherished tradition among paratroopers. Airborne operations is a demanding discipline, requiring constant training to verify skill and safety. Jumping alongside NATO Allies allows paratroopers to familiarise themselves with how they operate with other Allied soldiers.
