The song originated with Walt Disney’s wildly popular “Davy Crockett” dramatization, a three-episode Frontier Land segment starring Parker that aired on the new ABC television series “Disneyland” between December 1954 and February 1955. Note that some CD issues of Hayes’ “Davy Crockett,” including the widely distributed “Your Hit Parade 1955” compilation from Time-Life, substituted a noticeably different take in place of this actual hit version.
