Release date: 09 June 2023 Catalog#: MOVD0265 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲: Supported by ... Movement Recordings Official webpage: Spotify: Beatport: Soundcloud: Facebook: Continuing to add exciting new talent to their roster, Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Callecat to the label for their debut EP. Based in the Netherlands and comprised of Dutch artists Koen and Gijs, Callecat first emerged in 2018 with their 'Olietanker / Planetarium' double a-side offering via 8Music. Immediately recognized for their deep progressive sound, the duo found success in relatively short order, delivering projects for some of the genre's finest imprints in 3rd Avenue, Magnitude Recordings, Mango Alley, MNL and One Of A Kind, while also sharing the stage with Guy J and Nick Warren. Now, continuing on an upwards trajectory, Callecat adds Movement Recordings to their resume with 'Alien Takeover', alongside remixes from Weird Sounding Dude and Liam Sieker. Destined to be a highlight in Callecat's discography, it is the dark and groovy stylings of 'Alien Takeover' which get the release underway. Electrically charged from the outset, its rolling rhythmic structures, striking electronics and character rich basslines set the piece on a course for aural enlightenment. Hazy arps, chirpy melodies and haunting atmospheres rise across the first act, carrying a colourful momentum into the main break. Wavy lines delight across the short and timely centrepiece, eventually peaking in symphonic fashion, as flurries of drums and rising sonics unite for a finale that is equal parts cosmic and emotive. The companion piece 'Sequacious Minds' begins on a darker monochrome before collapsing waves of light reveal a gorgeous melodic storyboard. Together the duo masterfully synthesize their talents into one singular progressive vision, one where rejuvenating melodies descend over perfectly carved basslines and flashing percussive arrangements for the ultimate mid-set style groover. Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Alien Takeover' is Weird Sounding Dude. As one of India's rising musical mavericks, Weird Sounding Dude has emerged from his country's electronic landscape as a premiere progressive house talent. Long a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Cid Inc, the Bangalore resident often touches on disparate themes and sounds, straddling the divide between intergalactic design and groove-centric hypnotism. With a career that now spans a decade, Weird Sounding Dude has compiled an impressive discography with standout releases via Anjunadeep, Hoomidaas, The Soundgarden and Sudbeat Music. Movement Recordings has also been a landing spot for the scene veteran, with a contribution to the label's 'GLBLMVMT3 – Exploring India' collection marking his debut in 2020, a project which would lead to a 2021 remix of Not Demure and his 'Fallen Poet' EP from earlier this year. With recent releases for Mango Alley and Songspire landing in impressive fashion, Weird Sounding Dude now makes a welcome return to Movement Recordings with a huge rendition of 'Alien Takeover'. Taking inspiration from the heady original, the Bangalore resident remodels the track into an electrifying slice of progressive house. Complete with striking vocal fragments, hyperactive rhythms and a forest of prophetic designs, it's an adrenalized energy-rush for the ages - one where Weird Sounding Dude lands sounding better than ever. The release concludes with Liam Sieker making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Sequacious Minds'. Based in Melbourne, Australian artist Liam Sieker has been a fixture of his country's nightlife for the better part of a decade, programming music for trendy venues such as Killing Time, Loop Bar, Railway Hotel, and most notably Australia's world famous Revolver Upstairs. Also beloved as a producer, Liam has found a home on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Lee Burridge's All Day I Dream, where his progressive sound has flourished. Now, adding Movement Recordings to his resume, Liam debuts on the label with an inspired rendition of 'Sequacious Minds'. Striking a balance between supreme club dynamics and off-kilter electronics, Liam takes the original's distinct cadence and remodels it against waves of unpredictable synth phrasing and haunting effects, all while percolating lines and hopeful atmospheres continue to deliver much-needed dance floor curveballs for the more adventurous selectors out there.
