This is a legend, by José Maria Cane. It explains why the moon waxes and wanes, through a mythical percpective. It is a story of a gypsy woman, of the Romani people, and her love for a man of the Cale tribe. Marriage between tribe was forbidden, so the gypsy conjures the moon, asking to marry that man. The moon agrees to grant the gypsy's wish with one condition. Her first born child will be given to the moon (female in spanish) whose only wish is to be a mother.
