A state trooper who arrested two LGBT activists in Philadelphia after a traffic stop has now left his position, after part of the interaction was filmed and shared online. Celena Morrison, executive director of City Hall’s Office of LGBT Affairs, and husband Darius McLean were arrested in March after a traffic stop escalated, although the events leading up to the arrest are unclear. It was claimed in a subsequent report that ‘the individual refused multiple lawful orders made by the trooper,’ and ‘resisted arrest on multiple occasions,’ with both ultimately arrested for ‘Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Justice, Disorderly Conduct and other related charges.’ Following the video’s publication, Pennsylvania State Police said a full investigation, including witness interviews, were in the process looking into the traffic stop and all aspects of the encounter. The unnamed officer is confirmed to no longer be working for the department, although it’s unknown whether he resigned or was fired.
