Axel Rudi Pell (born 27 June 1960) is a German heavy metal guitar player and his eponymous band. He started off with the band Steeler (1984–88) before leaving to start his solo career in 1989. During this time, he has played with such drummers as Jörg Michael and Mike Terrana, and singers Johnny Gioeli, Jeff Scott Soto, and Rob Rock. “The Crest“ is his fourteenth album and was released in 2010. “Dark Waves of the Sea“ appears as the 7th track oif the album. On November 22, 2010, a deluxe edition of the Crest was released, which along with new artwork and additional photos and a 24-page booklet, also contains a second disc containing songs performed in the last Axel Rudi Pell DVD One Night Live, as well as an extended version of “Dreaming Dead“ which has a longer guitar solo. Johnny Gioeli is an American hard rock singer, composer and songwriter. Originally lead singer of the band Hardline, he is also currently the vocalist of Crush 40 and German guitarist Axel Rudi Pell's band. Axel Rudi Pell found himself in need of a vocalist after the departure of Jeff Scott Soto. Axel had admired Johnny for a long time, stating he always thought Johnny's vocals would go well with his music. Axel eventually found means of contacting Johnny and flew him to Germany to record vocals for his Oceans of Time CD, which up to date has been considered as one of the best Axel Rudi Pell albums. He is now the permanent lead vocalist of the band and shows no signs of leaving.
