Stoat mothers bring up their young alone, teaching them how to hunt and showing them around their territory with remarkable care. Watch this very short clip of a family of stoats as they head off across the garden path with mum in the lead. On the way back there's time to play and the youngsters take full advantage of the moment, tumbling about & turning somersaults in the long grass. I built the ideal habitat for stoats in my garden so that I could study them for my paintings and have followed the stories of one stoat family for seven generations.
