Theodore Dubois was Assistant Organist at Sainte- Clotilde under Franck, later succeeding Saint-Saens as Organist at La Madeleine. Both churches have celebrated Cavaille-Coll pipe organs. Dubois became Director of the Paris Conservatoire in 1896. York Minster is a Gothic Cathedral and one of the oldest, largest and most impressive of its kind in Europe. The magnificent organ has a turbulent past , and is often considered as the finest and most beautiful church organ in England.
