PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION – Looking for an easy autumn painting idea? Want a fun seasonal DIY project? Let me be your acrylic art instructor as I teach you easy step-by-step instructions throughout this fun beginner art video as you learn how to paint a white barn owl sitting behind fall leaves—a colorful and seasonal painting “AUTUMN OWL” with acrylic paint. When I think of Owls, Harry Potter’s Hedwig is first to come to mind. Although there are some owls that pop into my head, such as, Archimedes from The Sword in the Stone, the Owl from Winnie the Pooh, Mr. Know it Owl from that tootsie roll commercial, Friend Owl from Bambi, and even that golden metal clanky thing from the original Clash of the Titans, but, none of them compare to Hedwig who was highly intelligent and loyal to Harry, and, let’s not forget, he delivers messages and was able to rip the eyes out of a Basilisk to protect Harry in the Chamber of Secrets. But ever wonder why owls are considered intelligent? Using my Googling skills, I was able to learn that Owls are considered wise due to their heightened senses. They have big bright eyes, they always look alert, and they can see a prey’s slightest movement from a mile away. The Ancient Greeks believed that the owl’s enhanced vision was a result of a mystical inner light and associated the owl with the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena. Not only are owls pretty to look at but they are also a pretty cool bird species. So, join me and paint this beautiful owl sitting in a tree surrounded by vibrant autumn foliage, the perfect image to decorate your home for the season. The painting process for this beginner art lesson is so simple. In the first step to this acrylic art lesson you’ll learn how to draw a simple outline of the owl and how to paint an out of focus bokeh background using soft cool neutral colors in order to capture that crisp outdoor autumn weather feel. You’ll learn how to paint realistic facial features with expression. The beak will shine, and the eyes will shimmer. You will then learn how to paint feathers by layers colors with a directional and a stippling brushstroke technique to creature texture in the down, creating a realistic 3-D appearance like a photograph. You’ll learn how to paint leaves using a one brushstroke technique and wet on wet method. The art lesson is so easy to follow, you’ll feel like it’s a paint by numbers. You’ll have confidence to paint any type of owl, whether it’s a Barred Owl, Boreal Owl, Burrowing Owl, Eastern Screech-Owl, Elf Owl, Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl, Flammulated Owl, Great Gray Owl, Great Horned Owl, Long-eared Owl, Northern Hawk Owl, Northern or Pygmy-Owl. The point is to just have fun and enjoy the process. Using only 3 brushes, and 7 colors, you’ll paint like a professional and create the best canvas painting in the world! Have a date night, paint party, paint and sip event, or virtual paint night. Paint with gouache, oil paint, or watercolor, any medium will work! Paint just for fun or for art therapy. It's an easy Halloween DIY project for anyone. I hope you enjoy watching this Youtube art video and let's get painting and let's get sipping!
