Ballet and Footbal: Trophy of EURO 2020 at the Mariinsky Theatre during the visit to St. Petersburg

This May the Mariinsky Theatre had the honor to exhibit the much sought-for trophy, the UEFA European Championship Henri Delaunay Trophy, which visited St. Petersburg during the trophy tour involving 11 host cities of Euro 2020. ⠀ For this event, Yuri Smekalov, soloist and choreographer of the Mariinsky ballet, staged a special show on the historical stage of the theatre, harmoniously merging music and dance with the aesthetics of the cult game. ⠀ Accompanied by the Mariinsky Brass Ensemble and the Renaissance Percussion band, students of the Boris Eifman Dance Academy and young footballers of the FC Zenit Academy performed alongside the soloists of the Mariinsky Ballet.
