Wuhan is celebrating the Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year) on Friday, February 12, with a colourful light show display. The event takes place just over a year after the city became the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak. The holiday, known as the spring festival in China and considered one of the biggest of the year, will this year mark the beginning of the year of the Ox. Typically, during this period Chinese people return to their hometowns for family reunions, but this year many regions are advising people to stay put in order to limit any potential spread of COVID-19.
