Horizon A Flight to the Arabian Desert That was an amazing adventure I tell you. With these pictures I still can hardly believe that we were there! A horizon is the most powerful visual element we can perceive. Maybe you know this feeling when you want to go further and further to the end of the horizon. Especially in deserts I always have this curiosity to know what lies behind the horizon at the end of the dunes. This trip here to the two big deserts in Saudi Arabia, the beautiful Nafud and the extrem Rub al Khali (empty quarter) was an intense experience. My friend Shihab and I drove more than 6,000 km across the country in 3 weeks. Went out almost every morning before sunrise to catch the best flight time with our paramotors and the best light. It was often extremely cold and uncomfortable, but it was worth every second. That was real teamwork! The crowning glory was the trip into the heart of the Rub al Khali. For that alone we carried more than 300 liters of gasoline and 120 liters of water. After some research we found only one other paramotor pilot who ever flew there. We feel really honored and fortunate to be able to experience this. For several years I have been working on a passion project about the deserts of Arabia and Iran. I want to publish a big photographic book and a documentary film about it. Believe me, it's not that easy, even after all the traveling I've done. There have been major setbacks over the last few years. But in the meantime I am getting very close to my goal and I hope to finish the project next winter with a last trip to the areas. I will now gradually revive my vlog about this project and also provide you with more stories behind the camera about this Saudi Arabia trip and my project. There is clearly more content and stories to tell than I can accommodate in a short video. Feel free to give me feedback on this idea. thank you Shihab for your comradeship during this trip and thank you all for watching this video. Cheers
