Legendary Israeli singer Yehoram Gaon plays a small venue with his typical big-time charm. Singing for a rapt audience of Israelis and American Jews at The Hampton Synagogue, many of whom were singing along the whole time, Gaon plays all the hits from his long and storied career. He trots out such classics as “Mivtza Yonatan,“ “Hasar Moshe Montefiore,“ and so many more. Gaon, who cut his first solo record in 1965, has had a singing (and acting) career that spans several generations of Israeli history, all of which is captured in his beloved music. A consummate entertainer above all, Gaon puts on an impressive show from start to finish, all while subtly weaving in poignant reminders of the challenges Israel has faced over the decades. This was a program of The Hampton Synagogue, and their in-house video production staff shot and (mostly) edited this piece and sent it electronically to JBS.
