“One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)“ is written By Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. It was originally composed for the movie musical 'The Sky's the Limit' in 1943. It was also sung by Frank Sinatra which gave the song great popularity. John Carl Hendricks (September 16, 1921 – November 22, 2017) known professionally as Jon Hendricks, was an American jazz lyricist and singer. This man really had a way with his words. He is well-known for adding lyrics to existing instrumental songs and replaces many instruments with vocalists. Hendricks was born in Ohio, 1921. He grew up with 14 siblings and with his dad being an AME pastor he had to move many times. Hendricks started his singing career at the age of seven.
