A 10-year-old boy has been shot dead in Nimes, France in what is thought to be a shootout between drug trafficking gangs. The boy was in a car with his brother and uncle, which encountered a hail of bullets on Monday night. The boy tried to get out of the car but was fatally wounded. His uncle was also shot, but his brother was unharmed. One of the alleged shooters was caught on camera by an eyewitness. Following the shooting, officials have vowed to step up police efforts against drug trafficking gangs, and have said that the gunmen will face justice. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told reporters, ‘This is a great tragedy which will not go unpunished.’
