It inhabits warm, dry places with long grass where it builds a flat silk sac. Here it spends most of its day (even life), and goes out to hunt after nightfall. Ch. punctorium is quite aggressive and does not hesitate to attack a human when threatened. Its mandibles (chelicerae) are big and strong enough to pierce through human skin. The consequences of the bite can be compared to a bee sting. There is no need to be frightened but in summer it is advisable to move carefully around the grasslands where this species lives.
