Charlie discusses what got him into drumming, his early influences and how important Jazz was to him. --- Charlie Watts is an English drummer, best known as one of the members of the famous and ageless rock 'n' roll band, the ‘Rolling Stones’. He started playing drums with several blues and rock bands in London before joining ‘Rolling Stones’ in 1963. Charlie Watts has been a prominent figure in the world of rock and roll. The Rolling Stones scored their first No. 1 hit in the United States in 1965 with “Satisfaction.“ A string of other successful songs quickly followed such as “Paint It Black“ and “Ruby Tuesday.“ The “World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band“ continued to enjoy enormous popularity for the next two decades. to this day, Watts continues to record and play with the Rolling Stones and expects to stay with the band until Mick Jagger or Keith Richards decides to retire. Chad Smith is the current drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which he joined in 1988. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. Smith is also the drummer of the hard rock supergroup Chickenfoot, formed in 2008, and is currently the all-instrumental outfit Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats, who formed in 2007.
