The International Court of Justice has issued its first ruling on the genocide case brought by South Africa against Israel, in which it ordered Israel to take all necessary actions to “prevent genocide” in Gaza, but did not use the term “ceasefire.” Independent Journalist Sam Husseini, who has been highlighting the possible use of the Genocide Convention since October, noted that this decision is just the beginning of the actions that can be taken to push for Israel to be held accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people.
