As a teen, he wrote letters to his father. All of them came back “return to sender.“ At school he was a loner and was often bullied. He spent a lot of his life in a largely black lower-middle-class Detroit neighborhood, and was confronted and beaten up several times. As a child, he loved storytelling and wanted to become a comic book artist before he found hip hop. At 14, he began rapping with friend Mike Ruby. Their names were “Manix“ and “M&M,“ which became Eminem. He snuck into a nearby school with friend and fellow rapper Proof for lunchroom freestyle battles. After spending 3 years in grade 9 due to poor grades, he dropped out of High School at age 17. He struggled to succeed in a mostly black industry but gained the approval of underground hip hop audiences. He held a minimum-wage job cooking and dishwashing at a restaurant, Gilbert's Lodge. ✎ Things picked up when he developed his sadistic, ultra-violent alter ego Slim Shady. He wanted a bigger stage and to get noticed. In 1997 he traveled to LA to participate in the Rap Olympics where he placed 2nd, and a copy of the Slim Shady EP was sent to record producer Dr. Dre. The Slim Shady LP became one of the most popular albums of the year, quickly going triple platinum. The Marshall Mathers LP went on to sell million copies in its first week. It was the fastest-selling solo album in US history beating Britney Spears' ...Baby One More Time. In 2000, he became the first white person to be featured on the cover of The Source magazine. He has frequently been referred to as one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time. He was ranked 83rd on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. He is the best-selling artist of the 2000s (decade) has over 100 million record sales worldwide. ♛ BUY MY BOOK, CHANGE YOUR LIFE ♛ Some used the ideas in this book to build multi-billion-dollar businesses.
