Rodney is most famous for his book ‘How Europe Underdeveloped Africa.’ Published in 1972, it would go on to influence generations of revolutionary Pan-Africanists, and five decades after it first left the printing press, it remains an essential pillar of the Pan-African school of thought. One of the critical areas examined in the book is how European imperialism into Africa was underpinned by a racist ideology. It showed how - despite their many differences - Europeans always circled their wagons when it came to the oppression and exploitation of Africa and its people. A clear example of this was in 1915, when enemies Germany and Britain joined forces midway through WW1 to quash what was perceived as a greater threat - the African uprisings led by John Chilembwe in modern-day Malawi. 🎥 @contentovereverything --------------------SOCIAL----------------------- FACEBOOK - INSTAGRAM - TIKTOK - @africanstream TWITTER -
