Not only was the completion of this original composition with the piano and orchestral version more time-consuming than planned, but an unexpected phone call also came my way: A good friend, with whom I have been friends since my school days, called me to ask if we would like to go to a concert together. I said yes and he mentioned in passing that he was planning to fly to New Zealand spontaneously for a few weeks and be back on the day of the concert. I was immediately overcome by a feeling of wanderlust. I had long wanted to see the breathtaking landscapes, which most people probably know from the Lord of the Rings movies, with my own eyes. And so, on the spur of the moment and a little hastily, I suggested visiting him in New Zealand. A week later, I was already on the 35-hour flight from Frankfurt to Christchurch, a journey to the other side of the world. Now I'm back and I'm happy to say that the trip through the impressive nature and epic landscapes of New Zealand had a huge impact on me. Not only personally, but also musically I went on a kind of voyage of discovery this time and so in the orchestral version I pursued the goal of bringing different musical worlds together. And so this original composition became a meeting of orchestra, choir, band instruments, synthesizers and vocals. The piano version also has its own special feature, because this time only the white keys are used. At the beginning there was a self-imposed challenge. I wanted to know how far I could get if I restricted myself to the white keys when composing. This is the result. I hope you like it!
