In Turkiye (Turkey) and Middle East, lahmacun is the ultimate street food and a favorite lunchtime food. It’s also the most sold take out food in Turkey and is made differently in each region and city. These mini lahmacuns are from Tarsus / Mersin and is called “Fındık Lahmacun” (fındık means hazelnut in Turkish) referring to the size of the flatbreads. Unlike the regular large size lahmacun, fındık lahmacun has a lot more meat topping on tiny flatbreads and made entirely by hand which gives it’s unique texture and flavor. Even smaller version of this is called Birds Eye Lahmacun (Kusgozu Lahmacun) which is made similarly but is a one bite size delicacy. Both are best served hot and with a drizzle of lemon juice and fresh greens. It can be found in street vendors in the south of Turkey, as well as in many traditional Turkish kebab restaurants where they typically serve mini lahmacuns as appetizers.
