Dashu is the twelfth solar term in the twenty-four solar terms and the last solar term of summer. It marks the sun’s celestial longitude reaching 120 degrees, falling around July 22-24 in the Gregorian calendar. ’Shu’ means heat, and Dashu signifies extreme heat. Compared to Xiaoshu, Dashu is even hotter, representing the peak of sunlight and heat in the year. The climate during Dashu is characterized by high temperatures, intense heat, frequent thunderstorms, and typhoons.
