«Tom Sawyer» is a 1917 American silent film produced by Paramount Pictures based on half of Mark Twain’s The Adventures of #TomSawyer. Directed by William Desmond Taylor. The premiere took place on December 10, 1917. A year later, in 1918, the sequel to Huck and Tom was released, covering the second half of the novel with the story of Injun Joe, but this film is lost today. The film was filmed in September 1917 in Hannibal, Missouri, Mark Twain’s hometown.
