It's common practice for visiting families to not pay attention to their keiki (children) on the shoreline. Many people may assume its ok to let their children roam because other people are around. Signs are posted throughout the area warning of hazardous conditions but most will ignore and go about their vacation. This preventative rescue is a great example of why you should trust strangers to the safety of your keiki. 6. Why is the lady beside her filming? The person beside her was not filming. She was not even aware. If you pay close attention she glances up and goes back to whatever was happening on her personal electronic device. 7. Why does she have a phone in the ocean? I can't answer that. 8. I was told this was a pretty routine rescue. She really appreciates all the attention its gotten her but every day events like this happen all over the island with no recognition.
