This simulation investigates the number of Relikt explosive reactive armour (ERA) required to stop/deflect an APFSDS. The 115mm 3BM3 APFSDS-T is being fired from a Russian T-62 at a range of , targeting the array of the Relikt ERA. Relikt is the 3rd generation of Russian ERA, and is claimed to be twice as effective as Kontakt-5. The design of the Relikt ERA involves the explosion of two heavy metal plates in opposite directions, which also allows it to provide some protection against tandem HEAT ammunition. The ERA on its own isn't able to stop APFSDS rounds, it's due to its degrading nature that it allows the backing armour to more easily defeat the incoming round.
