Maui, The Legendary Hero of Hawaii (Polynesian mythology)

Maui, the legendary hero and trickster demigod of Polynesian mythology. Though stories about him do sometimes differ, he is known for being a trickster and his feats of strength, such as slowing down the sun and hauling up islands using his magical fish hook. He is not seen as a deity, but more so as a folktale hero in hawaiian culture.
