🎼‘The Sun Always Shines on TV’ is a song by Norwegian band a-ha , released as the third single from their debut studio album Hunting High and Low (1985). 🥇In 1986, the song ‘The Sun Always Shines on T.V.’ hit N1 in England, Ireland, N1 Europe (European Airplay Top 50). 🏆The band was nominated for Grammy Awards in several categories and won in the Best Video category. 🏆At the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards, the video won in the categories ‘Best Video Editing’, ‘Best Video Editing’, ‘Best Cinematography’, ‘Best Video Editing’, ‘Best Video Editing’ and ‘Best Video Editing’. ‘Best Cinematography in a Video.’ 📽The music video was shot in October 1985 in England. 🎞It starts with an intro that concludes the story of a motorbike racer and a girl (played by Morten Harket and his then-girlfriend Bunty Bailey) from the band’s previous music video ‘Take on Me’. 🎞Standing in a park (the scene was filmed at Udney Hall Gardens in Teddington, Middlesex County) opposite each other, they are enjoying the evening. At one point, the rider discovers that he begins to slowly transform into a two-dimensional painted man (apparently he can’t exist in this world forever). Writhing in pain and looking longingly at the girl, the racer rushes to run down the alley and with a bright flash disappears, while the distraught girl leans lonely against a tree. The screen then displays the caption ‘The End, A Warner Bros. First National Picture’ (a reference to the love melodramas of Hollywood’s golden era). 🎞The video then moves to a large church cathedral (the scene was filmed at St Alban’s Church in Teddington) where, standing in the altar area in front of a giant crowd of various mannequins, the band members perform the song itself.
