Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins hosted the Boston Bruins for the final regular season matchup between these two clubs. This game also marked Erik Karlsson’s 1,000th NHL game. Karlsson played 627 games with the Ottawa Senators, 293 games with the San Jose Sharks, and 80 with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Through the 1st period, the game stayed locked with nobody scoring a goal. The 2nd period was a different story. The Bruins scored first on a goal from Jake DeBrusk. Only 14 seconds later, the Bruins scored a second from Pavel Zacha. The Penguins answered shortly after. Drew O’Connor Rushed the puck up the ice and into the Bruins zone. Staying wide, he pulled the defenders towards him opening up a passing lane to Bryan Rust on the backdoor for the tap-in. Kevin Shattenkirk scored a few minutes later for the Bruins. Adding to that lead was Brad Marchand with a short-handed goal.
