It’s always a pleasure to play on a double bass drumset. This SQ1 setup is similar to the first Sonor kit that I bought in 1977: two bass drums, a snare drum, three rack toms and two floor toms. For this solo, I orchestrated various Indian rhythms on the kit and then added two tracks of unison Konnakol. This unique rhythm language developed in South India over hundreds of years. I studied Konnakol to expand my rhythmic knowledge. The groove I played after the Konnakol section is loosely based on John Bonham’s drum part in “Good Times, Bad Times,” which blew me away when I first heard it in 1969! The Sonor Satin Copper Brown SQ1 drum kit setup, made of 100% European Birch, was easy to tune and achieved a big melodic, sonorous sound. 2x 22x17,5“ Bass Drums 08x07“ Rack Tom 10x07“ Rack Tom 12x08“ Rack Tom 14x13“ Floor Tom 16x15“ Floor Tom 14x5,75“ KOMPRESSOR Aluminum Snare Drum - Steve Smith
