In south India, we celebrate Navratri, by invoking the goddesses into our homes with flowers, and lamps and décor. The Bommai kolu festival is celebrated by arranging dolls on steps. These dolls represent different aspects of our lives and the stairs symbolize our spiritual progression of finally allowing our inner demons to be destroyed just as Devi destroyed Mahishasura.
