Another outstanding effort by Alan Davey as he channels Lemmy’s Motörhead in a superb live performance from 2006. The genius of this version here is that it is Hawkwind, not a copied later Motörhead sound alike. Alan’s bass is note perfect and crucially retains the authenticity of the 1975 studio Kings Of Speed B side version. The song sounds heavier in the live setting as would naturally occur. Compare Lemmy’s 1972 studio version of The Watcher with the 1974 live version and you will note the vast difference. The song was taken to its ultimate limits with Motörhead’s 1981 No Sleep ’Til Hammersmith version. I have posted the links to the NSTH video and Lemmy’s 1975 version so you can enjoy the comparison. Have fun! Hawkwind ’75 version - NSTH version -
