As far as I know, this was the first number that Fleetwood Mac recorded as a three piece, before they had released any music. The session was gifted to Peter Green by John Mayall as a birthday present in 1967. I’m not sure if John McVie was still in The Bluesbreakers, maybe somebody can fill in the blanks on any details about the recording of the song. As far as I know this was before Jeremy Spencer had joined the band. The song was first released on the vinyl compilation album “The Original Fleetwood Mac“ in 1971. Until then it had never been heard other than live. There is a version from the first Fleetwood Mac gig at The Windsor Jazz and Blues Festival in July 1967 featuring Bob Brunning on bass. This version is a wonderful insight into the very early sound of the band and Peter Green’s magnificently fluid lead guitar and harmonica playing along with the rhythm section that would go onto form the core of the band for decades to come. The footage is taken from a gig the band played in Norway on November 3rd. 1969.
