Mount Koltso, a natural landmark and rock formation near the city of Kislovodsk, offers breathtaking panoramic views from its summit. Under the influence of weathering and erosion, the extreme cave on the cape has turned into a ring-shaped formation with a diameter of approximately ten meters. The Gumbashi Pass is in Karachay-Cherkessia at an altitude of 2,144 meters, near the village of Verkhnyaya Mara. It's one of the few high passes accessible by car, and the road from Kislovodsk to Karachaevsk goes through it. We're driving through the pass from Kislovodsk to Dombay. The name “Gumbashi“ has Karachai origins and means “sandy head“, reflecting the features of the local landscape, which is composed mainly of sandstone with limestone admixtures. Cheese Caves is a unique natural formation located in Karachay-Cherkessia, near the Gumbashi Pass. The caves got their name because they resemble sliced cheese, with large holes dotted throughout. These caves are actually numerous niches and depressions in the rock, formed by prolonged weathering of sandstone. It can be described as a system of underground chambers with a bizarre shape, connected by narrow passageways.
