This year I've relished being outdoors more than ever. The more remote the better. I've come to the very clear realisation that I want to live a life away from the norms of modern day society. A slower life, wanting and needing less. Surrounding myself only with things that add real value, beauty or purpose to my life. To go back to a simpler way of living. To grow as much of my own food as I can, keep my own ducks and chickens, have a lovely garden filled with flowers. To go to local markets and butchers for the food I can't produce myself, learn about where it comes from, live and cook seasonally, be part of a community of like minded people who embrace the value and importance of nature, connection and family. To spend time every day cooking for my loved ones, to sit and linger around a candlelit dinner table tucking into hearty, nourishing wholesome food. To spend my days photographing the change of the seasons, capturing life - instead of letting it pass me by. We are forced into thinking that if we're not 'busy' that we're being lazy, that we're not productive. That the only way to be successful is by working every hour of the day, mostly for large corporations so we can line the pockets of others. We're forced into feeling like we constantly need to be creating or we'll be left behind. People are glued to their phones, unable to even leave the house without them. Anxiety, mental illness, depression and suicide rates are at their highest. Obesity, diabetes, cancer and dementia are epidemic. I can't help but question how toxic this modern world is for us? From the way we live to everything that we consume on a daily basis (nutritionally, technologically, media, everything). I want back to basics. A life of considered consumption. I want to buy a plot of land out in remote nature, build a log cabin and create a beautiful garden. Let's see if I can make that dream happen. #uktravel #scotland #scottishhighlands #travel #travelvlog #slowtravel #slowliving
