LEYA - Performance

House Party is a digital performance and publication series out of The Poetry Project with readings, songs, dances, writings and prompts from the past, present, and future. Within each issue, we'll also be sharing a living list of resources, emergency grants, and other recommendations. NYC-based duo LEYA is harpist Marilu Donovan (Eartheater, Julie Byrne) and violinist/vocalist Adam Markiewicz (PC Worship, The Dreebs). The group aims to deconstruct traditional connotations of the harp and violin through simple songs that hang in balanced expression between ugliness and beauty. By altering their instruments through unorthodox tunings, amplification, and effects, Donovan and Markiewicz are able to mine the depths of their darker, more unsettling capacities, balancing euphoria and deep mourning.
