Reports and videos have been surfacing over the past few months, highlighting the destructive power of Russian glide bombs in Ukrainian cities. These bombs, ranging in weight from hundreds of kilos to tons, pose a significant threat to the Ukrainian military, who are struggling to find an effective defense. According to the BBC, over 200 glide bombs were used by Russia in a single week to attack the northern town of Vovchansk during their recent incursion near Kharkiv. President Volodymyr Zelensky even revealed that a staggering 3,000 of these bombs were dropped on Ukraine in March alone. The Ukrainian Air Force has reported that the Russians most frequently use the FAB-250 and FAB-500 glide bombs. Although these hundred-kilo bombs are already extremely destructive, there are reports that Russia has been using even heavier glide bombs, such as the FAB-1500 and FAB-3000, which are even more devastating. Recently, the Russian Federation declared a major bombing campaign targeting a Ukrainian military base in the village of New York, Ukraine. The Russian Air Force used the powerful FAB-3000 super-heavy air bomb for this operation. The Ministry of Defense even posted videos on social media showing a Su-34 aircraft carrying and dropping the three-ton bomb on Ukrainian soil.
