Дата: 17 июля 2020 г. This video is outdated as more information is found later. Corrections and new information found - read this document since it’s not enough to put in the description: Why most “Windows Startup and Shutdown Sounds“ videos are wrong: 1. Windows did not have any sounds before Windows 3.0 with Multimedia Extensions 1.0, which many people are unaware of. 2. Windows NT 5.0 EUR Edition is unofficial. Windows EUR Group isn’t affiliated with Microsoft. 3. Windows NT 5.0 Beta 1 and Beta 2 don’t use Windows 2000 beta 3 builds 1946-1969 startup as a shutdown, it uses NT 4.0 shutdown. 4. Windows Codename Millennium used Windows 98 sounds, not Windows 2000 builds 1983-2000 sounds. 5. The widespread Windows Whistler startup and shutdown sound are fake. Windows XP used Windows 2000 sounds until build 2485 (2481 has RTM sounds, but they weren’t used as default at that point). 6. The widespread Windows Server 2003 UK startup sound is fake and it came from a promotion animation (cut by TheCanadianToast). All versions and localization of Windows Server 2003 use the Windows XP startup sound. No special edition of Windows for one country was ever made until Microsoft was forced to make N and KN variants for Europe and South Korea respectively which removes Windows Media Player and other features due to antitrust lawsuits; there was never a special UK version of any version of Windows until Microsoft introduced English (United Kingdom) language pack for Windows 8. 7. Windows Home Server uses XP sounds as it’s based on Server 2003 R2. 8. The widespread Longhorn sounds are fake and came from many different fanmade themes. - Turns out the Deep Fantasy sound scheme is actually different from the alleged Longhorn sound scheme: 9. Windows 8/8.1 and 10 have the Vista/7 startup sound, but it’s disabled by default. How to enable the startup sound in Windows 8/8.1/10: - Check “Play Windows startup sound“ in Sound Control Panel; - Disable Fast Startup: -- In Windows 10, if your device doesn’t support hibernation, skip the “disable fast startup“ step. 9.1. Windows in C:\Windows\Media is the unused logon sound, not a startup. Logon and startup are two different concepts. 9.2. Windows in C:\Windows\Media, isn’t an actual startup sound, despite the filename. The location for the actual startup sound (you’ll need Resources Hacker to view or modify the resources of it): - Windows Vista to Windows 10 version 1809: %SystemRoot%\System32\ - Windows 10 version 1903 onwards and Windows 11: %SystemRoot%\SystemResources\ I would recommend watching the following video for the startup sound in Windows 8/8.1/10: Additional notes: - The Windows NT images up to NT 5.0 build 1745 are not the actual boot screens, they are backgrounds titled: for the first NT build, for NT builds up to , for build 1796. Never watch Windows Expert. He just posting random stuff without a single bit of knowledge over what he is doing. He does know what he posted is wrong but he continued it to lure innocent kids to his side. Images from BetaWiki and more sources.
