Locals believe the blood of wild horses runs in their veins, and call them ‘heavenly creatures’. In Turkmenistan, everyone is linked with the Akhal-Teke. ’We Turkmens can’t live without horses,’ explained Aybike Babalyeva. These are not just words for her: her family is famous in the country for their contributions to horse breeding.
